National research platforms
1.State Key Laboratory of Manufacturing System Engineering
The State Key Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems Engineering is co-founded by three national key disciplines, i.e. Machinery Manufacturing & Automation, System Engineering and Management Science & Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University. The lab covers the following four major research directions: advanced manufacturing theory and technology (agile manufacturing, virtual manufacturing, concurrent engineering, rapid engineering, reverse engineering, quality engineering, etc.); manufacturing informationization and manufacturing system engineering (modern integrated manufacturing technology, manufacturing system modeling, simulation and optimal scheduling, network information system, database, computer collaborative working system, network information security, etc.); equipment manufacturing and integration (monitoring and diagnosis of equipment and manufacturing system, control technology of advanced machinery, robots, MEMS components, optical, mechanical and electrical integration, etc.); management and decision making of advanced manufacturing system (development stratagems, virtual enterprises, supply chains, etc.). These directions involve the cutting edge research, multiple disciplines and technology integration. Therefore, they are of great significance for the development of both science & technology and national economy.
2. National Engineering Research Center of Rapid Manufacturing
National engineering research center of rapid manufacturing is a national innovation platform of advanced manufacturing technology, which is approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. The center relies on Xi’an Ruite Rapid Manufacturing Engineering Research Co., Ltd. Aiming at enhancing the core competitiveness of the national manufacturing industry, the center takes strong enterprises and investment organization as the base of industrialization and financing, the market demands as the direction, and research, development and industrialization of rapid manufacturing technology, process and complete sets of equipment as the fundamental task. Through utilizing predominance of manufacturing science and research at Xi’an Jiaotong University, the center will endeavor to make continuous contributions to the progress of manufacturing science and the rapid development of national economy.
3. Collaborative Innovation Center of High-end Manufacturing Equipment
Led by Xi'an Jiaotong University, Collaborative Innovation Center of High-end Manufacturing Equipment is a national "2011 Collaborative Innovation Center" under the cooperation of three universities and seven key enterprises. Eight scientists are members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, two of the highest honors for a scientist in China. Seven of our scientists are introduced from outside China through Thousand Talents Program. Seven scientists have been elected as chief members in national 973 Program. Additionally, there are ten Cheung Kong Scholars, eight Distinguished Young Scholars and one chief engineer of a national high-end CNC machine tool program named "04 Special Project".
In order to meet the demand of China, the center focuses on high-end equipment manufacturing, including high-speed processing and equipment, high-precision processing and equipment, 3D printing, basic component, aero-engine and gas turbine. Many achievements have been reached, for example, high-speed and high-efficiency φ2.5m gear processing equipment, which won the golden prize of China International Industry Fair, spatial cam five-axis machining center with automatic tool changing manipulator, six-axis grinding center, aspherical mirror machining equipment, nuclear power precision processing equipment, 3D printing equipment with more than 400 user companies. Besides, primary breakthrough has been made in digital design, high-speed spindles, hydraulic components, high-end CNC system, intelligent manufacturing and health maintenance, etc.
The center was authorized as national "2011 Collaborative Innovation Center" in 2014. Through collaborations and innovations, the center aims at becoming a pillar to support core technologies of China’s high-end manufacturing equipment industry and innovative technologies’ development and transfer, so as to enhance the efficiency of China’s high-end machine tool by 2 to 3 times, the precision of manufacturing from micro-scale to nano-scale, and 3D printing technology into the forefront of the world.
