Abstract:

This talk will introduce our recent research activities on condition monitoring of machining processes and rotating machinery. In machining difficult-to-cut materials, such as titanium alloys, Inconel, ceramics, and composites, it is important to monitor the tool condition and the process dynamic stability, so that the required surface quality can be obtained, while reasonable tool life and productivity can be maintained. The mechanics and dynamics in machining titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V using both traditional and nontraditional processes, and the development of process monitoring and chatter detection approached will be discussed. An investigation into the drilling of natural fiber reinforced composites, and an overview of a reconfigurable micromilling platform and the experimental work on micro thin-wall fabrication, will be presented. The talk will also brief the monitoring and diagnosis of defects in rolling element bearings using multi-sensors employing the information fusion strategies. The occurrence of signal integrity issues in vibration monitoring caused by sensor saturation and signal distortion, and the development of a detection method of the signal integrity issues using a one-class support vector machine will be included.

Biography:

Dr Huaizhong Li is a Senior Lecturer and HDR convenor at the School of Engineering and Built Environment, Griffith University, Australia. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Engineering and Technology (AET), Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and Fellow of the Griffith Learning and Teaching Academy. With extensive experience in both industry and academia, Dr. Li’s research focuses on advanced manufacturing technologies, structural and machine dynamics, vibration analysis and control, and advanced signal analysis. He has published over 123 referred technical articles, and has twice received the prestigious Thatcher Bros Prize from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK, in 2015 and 2019. His research impact is reflected in his h-index of 31 (Scopus), and he has been recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University since 2021.

摘要

本次演讲将介绍我们近期在加工过程和旋转机械状态监测方面的研究工作。在加工钛合金、镍基合金、陶瓷和复合材料等难切削材料时,监测刀具状态和加工过程动态稳定性至关重要,这样才能在保证合理刀具寿命和生产效率的同时,获得所需的表面质量。我们将探讨采用传统和非传统加工工艺加工钛合金 Ti-6Al-4V 时的力学和动力学问题,以及加工过程监测和颤振检测方法的发展情况。还将介绍对天然纤维增强复合材料钻孔的研究,概述可重构微铣削平台以及微薄壁制造的实验工作。演讲还将简要介绍利用多传感器融合策略对滚动轴承缺陷进行监测和诊断的情况。包括讨论传感器饱和和信号失真导致的振动监测中信号完整性问题的出现,以及利用单类支持向量机构建信号完整性问题检测方法的进展。

专家简介

李怀忠博士是澳大利亚格里菲斯大学工程与建筑环境学院的高级讲师和高学位研究项目召集人。他是国际工程与技术科学院(AET)会士、高等教育学院会士(FHEA)以及格里菲斯教学学院会士。李怀忠博士在工业界和学术界均拥有丰富经验,其研究重点为先进制造技术、结构与机械动力学、振动分析与控制以及先进信号分析。已发表 123 余篇有影响力的技术文章,并于 2015 年和 2019 年两次荣获英国机械工程师学会(IMechE)颁发的撒切尔兄弟奖。其H指数为 31(Scopus 数据库),自 2021 年起,被斯坦福大学评为全球前 2% 顶尖科学家。
